Football Knights Keep Streak Alive

The Varsity football team kept their winning streak alive with an ECC road win against the Walnut Hills Eagles last Friday, October 5th.

Senior quarterback Ashton Koller broke free for two long touchdowns (55 and 85 yards respectively). The runs were his two longest of the season.

In the second quarter, junior defensive back Hunter Henry broke the game open with a 20-yard scoop and score. After a 20-yard field goal from Thomas Mitchell, the Knights led the Eagles 31-3 at the half.

In the second half, Koller ran for his third touchdown of the game to make the score 38-3.

Walnut tried to rally in the fourth, scoring two touchdowns, but the Knights’ lead proved to be insurmountable, winning by a final score of 38-16.

The win moves the Knights record to 6-1 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 in the ECC.

The team is tied for first in the ECC, setting up a huge matchup with Milford next Friday, October 12th.

Milford comes into the game with the same record of 6-1 including 4-0 ECC. They come into the game on a four-game winning streak and their offense has been a major factor of their success. Milford has put up the most points in the ECC thus far, including a 71-point outburst against Loveland.

The Eagles’ high-powered offense is led by senior running back Cameron Kells. Kells has proven to be a threat on the ground and the air this season, scoring 18 rushing touchdowns as well as four receiving touchdowns.

“We just need to focus on where he lines up and not letting him get open.” said senior linebacker Jake Stylski.

The game will most likely decide who will win the outright conference title. If Kings wins they will have Loveland (1-6) and West Clermont (3-4) standing in the way of their first outright ECC title since 2014.

“These are the games you love to play,” Stylski told the Knight Times.

The game will have playoff implications for both teams. Kings currently holds the number one ranking in the division two city polls, while Milford is 8th in division one.
